Frequently Asked Questions
1. What is the Institute of Lifestyle and Weight Management?
The Institute of Lifestyle and Weight Management (ILWM) is a medically-supervised lifestyle and weight management facility that offers health programs to individuals seeking to make positive healthy changes in their lives. However, ILWM is much more than just a facility or a group of health programs. At ILWM, we believe we are redefining how obesity is treated. We look at the physiological, behavioral, psychological, genetic, and emotional aspects of obesity, and we do not believe that it is a "willpower issue." Each member gets individualized attention and a treatment plan that is made specifically for them.

2. How many visits or sessions do I get with the providers?
Your number of visits with our healthcare providers depends on which program you are enrolled in and can vary depending on your needs. In other words, we understand that some individuals might need more visits than are outlined in our programs—some might need fewer—and our primary goal is to ensure that we are meeting your needs as a member.

3. May I bring my children?
ILWM is a family-run business and believes that a family working together to achieve life goals is more successful than individuals trying to do it on their own. ILWM has a small play space, but does not provide child supervision at this time. If your child would like to sit in our education center or with you in the gym while you workout we would be happy to accommodate your needs.

4. What is the average age, gender and weight of the members?
If obesity discriminated, we would not have approximately 65% of the population suffering from weight management issues. That being said, ILWM has a wide variety of individuals, female and male, young and old, participating in its program—some are significantly obese and some just need to lose 20 or 30 pounds. All of the members have one thing in common: they are ready to make a lifestyle change.

5. Does insurance handle memberships?
It depends. Each insurance company and plan is different—some will reimburse for parts of our membership and some will not. At the present time, we do not accept insurance as a form of payment, but will provide you with the proper documentation needed, so that you may try to get reimbursed for part of your membership.

6. May I use my flex spending for memberships?
Yes. Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) and Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) are both welcome. ILWM accepts both FSAs and HSAs as forms of payment for its membership fees and will provide you with the proper documentation needed to ensure that your account is authorized. The IRS has a few rules, although they are very reasonable, so be sure and talk with a staff member at ILWM to see if you qualify.
