IWLM

The ILWM Story

In 2005, Dr. Brooks Wilkins established The Institute of Lifestyle & Weight Management (ILWM), a progressive healthcare institution devoted exclusively to overweight individuals and providing them with the most personalized healthcare experience in the Raleigh area. ILWM empowers overweight individuals by enabling them to live healthier and happier lives though healthcare, education, and support. The idea was born back in 2000 when Dr. Wilkins started involving his patients in their own healthcare. Over time, individualized support and personalized one-on-one attention helped to engage his patients to practice better self-care, improved their health outcomes and allowed the doctor to more appropriately tailor his patients’ treatment regimens.

The personalized attention that the patients received from Dr. Wilkins helped them break the cycle of poor health for good. His solution for obesity, founded on the belief that optimal health is a fundamental human right, is brilliantly simple: support people on terms that are suitable to them, teach them a few sound pro-health principles, and they will help themselves.

Dr. Wilkins’ methods work. ILWM opened its doors in April of 2006 and already thousands of pounds have been lost. Today, hundreds of individuals from the Triangle area participate in ILWM’s programs based on Dr. Wilkins’ methodology, placing ILWM at the forefront of a movement toward eradicating obesity through personalized medical care, education, and support.
